Just been watching Alex Polizzi on the Fixer and they are talking scones.
Just fancy some.

It is a good idea to be alone in a garden at dawn or dark so that all its shy presences may haunt you and possess you in a reverie of suspended thought.

I love this scone recipe, done and in the oven in 2 minutes. Always used to fail with them until I tried this, but now make them regularly and successfully:

I hate to recommend Mr T's but this recipe for cheese and chilli scones does work well, esp with chopped black olives and sundried tomatoes added to the mix. (Smacks lips and dreams).

The one that has worked for me the best is the one from Gary Rhodes' New British classic's book - I don't have the book with me atm but I think its pretty similar to this one http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/royal-wedding-gary-rhodes-buttermilk-1785270

James Martins scones are the ones taking us all by storm at the moment. They are made with bread flour and lots of baking power and are huge and fluffier than the normal more dense ones. After trying some a friend made I googled the recipe and made some myself which went down a storm with my family too.
It was strange as I had tasted some exactly the same several years ago when we were on holiday in Devon and although I asked the chap who was serving us in the cafe how they were made, he said he didn't know as his mother in law made them. I never came across them again until this recipe of JM.Mortgage and Debt free but need to increase savings pot. :think:0 -
I've misplaced the recipe card now, but had a lovely one from watrose for cheese and apple ones.
Tbh, scones, while simple, aren't my favourite thing, but so quick and easy. These were very good as a side with some soups. Must see if I can find that recipe!0 -
This is my go to recipe. Works every time
