Underwriters

Hi
We applied for a mtg with natwest which got declined by the underwriters last week. We viewed our credit files as advised by them and found it was due to a default on my husband's file, confirmed by them as the reason.
We have relooked at our report today and the default has dropped off as over 6yrs old ( I had to check on the credit score board as I couldn't believe my eyes- but they've confirmed this is correct!).
We have contacted our mortgage adviser and asked if this will change their decision, I can't believe we have been so blooming stupid!!!

So, wise peeps do you think the underwriters will change their mind, or if they don't will fighting it help? (And yes I know this will be speculation)

Thanks :)

Who issued the default? Hopefully they were not part of the RBS group.

You are saying there was only one default and this is now no longer on the file.

Are there other late payments or payday loans recorded?

  • I have one late payment on my report from orangehome 4 years ago. No PDLs and default was with Lloyd's.
The late payment was due to orange messing up my dd instruction, I had the charges refunded by them as they agreed it was their fault and I had no idea they had reported it as a late payment. I need to request it is removed but not sure how long they take to come off.
