George Foreman Style Grills - Are they REALLY any good?

So I was looking at the latest George Foreman grill, that came out at £70, now just £20 from Lidl.
I was thinking, are they really any good? While I suspect there hasn't been any actual investigation done into it, in your opinion would you say they save energy compared with an oven (cooking sausages for example)?

With steak, surely the juices help flavour it, so would you be taking away from the flavour, or would you say steak tastes nicer when done on a George grill?

Discuss.

Many, many people love them, but I bought one several years ago, used it twice, hated what it did to my chicken portions and ended up giving it away. It's a personal choice, but to me, it dried everything out too much. I want my food with less fat, but not less taste!
I let my mind wander and it never came back!

Have to agree with Consultant, I find that it dries sausages too much, but it's interesting (shocking) to see just how much fat is in sausages.
Remember of course a "george" was designed to take the fat away thereby leaving whats left healthier.

I have found that something like chicken which has not got a lot of fat to start with can get too dry pretty quickly.....again keep an eye on it whilst cooking.

Just keep an eye on stuff when you use it, plus side is that you don't seem to get strong cooking smells.

Its great to get all the fat out but it makes the meat dry.

We use ours mainly for paininis and toasted sarnies - works great for those!
