Nationwide mortgage and childcare costs

We're about to apply for a mortgage with Nationwide and our first child is on the way. When asked about childcare costs on Nationwide's affordability calculator, I entered £0 as the grandparents are more than delighted to take care of their grandchild, however will Nationwide question this and will they need any proof that childcare is not required?

    No, it won't.

It is adequate to note on the application that free childcare will be provide by grandparents.

They do check bank statements to ensure that is truthful for those who already have kids who claim the same.
