Hiya
I don't come over here very often as a domestic goddess I am not
and I am not sure if this is the right place to post this but I have noticed for ages now that on hubbys shirts there seems to be these funny little clusters of yellow / orange little spots that stain his shirts and I end up having to chuck them out.
Does anyone have any idea what on earth these may be? They don't get hung outside very often as I hate the creepy crawlies out there.
Thanks x

This'll probably be way off but do you hang them on a metal clothes horse or radiator? I was having a problem with little 'lines' of orangy/yellow staining on shirts and things and I finally realised that it was rust stains from my old clothes horses. The plastic was wearing and chipping away from the metal and it was starting to rust through, and it was staining my clothes. I chucked them away and got a nice strong new clothes horse and the problem stopped

The only other thing I can think of is pollen, as that can leave orange stains on clothing.0 -
Is it ladies makeup

I thought of pollen but if you've been having them for a while probably not. If you hang your washing out could they be rust stains from clothes pegs (what with all the rain we've been having!)?0 -
Thanks for these - I can't remember the last time they got hung out so its unlikely to be pollen and I use plastic airer and coathangers!
Its really odd.
Thanks for your replies x:heart2:Mum to my little Daisy 3 and Archie 1.:heart2:0 -
The stains don't seem to be in one particular area. I might see if I can take a photo.

one of my hubby's tops has got similar marks and we've found it's wooden buttons which have stained it when it was wet

Check the rubber seal on your washing machine, particularly round the top and in the crevices. Mine sometimes gets grubby with old detergent and rubs off on the washing as it is dragged out of the machine.0

We had this problem some time ago and it was the washing machine that was causing it....never actually got it fixed and it sorted itself out eventually. The repair man thought that there might have been something rusting inside the machine like a paper clip or something.

This older thread might help:
"rusty" mark on shirts from washing machine ?
