I'm looking for a decent priced MP3 Player and this caught my eye - what do people think of it?
Has anyone bought one?

Well, thanks but that's not the right model - or are those 2 reviews for the whole series?

Its crap, you dont need MP4 the bitrate is lame and the sound is mono.
Im getting the £50 2 gig Sony with 30 hours battery life.0 -

"Other than that, the white 1GB SA3114 and 2GB SA3124 and the black 1GB SA3115 and 2GB SA3125 (names we'll all certainly remember) are pretty standard fare."
...in other words they are all the same range, just different capacity, so review applies to the SA3124.
Seems an average review.0 -

Actually, yes. Just this second. Took two hours to charge, and less than that to fill up the 2GB of memory on it.
Interface is intuitive, sound is crisp, bass is good with the supplied headphones, and all in all it's a pretty good unit for what you get.
Contrast this with the Ministry of Sound 2GB unit - same price, same size - which is actually pretty poor. Half the advertised battery life of the Philips, and the interface is poor beyond words. I took it back within half an hour of opening the box. ("Faulty. Honest.")
I don't think you'll be disappointed with the Philips. I'm certainly not.
The Philips also has FM built in to it with fantastic signal pickup (found 10 stations, played them all), and plays videos (although I've not tested it to see the quality) and has picture viewing built in too.
From me, it gets a definite thumbs up.

Sorry, I disagree. it's not mono (think about it - if it was, would anybody actually buy it?), and the bitrate is only dependant on the MP3s you put on it in the first. place.
Sound is crystal clear and, unlike the Sony, doesn't require that you use stupid proprietary software for you to load your tunes on.
The Philips one also works flawlessly in Linux, something which I've tested myself...

I agree the "its crap" post before was silly.
Each to their own, i dont need an Mp4 though, i have a PSP and phone which can both play video but i never use either. And if i ever need to ill use the PSP because the screen is bigger than any MP4 player and the sound most likely is to.
Since my last post i bought the Sony and im very pleased with it.
SonicStage is pretty crap, but thats partially because i dont know how to use it very well. Ive put nearly my whole "My Music" collection on the player and i love it. The sound is brilliant with my better headphones. I read a review on it which said the sound quality is better than that of the Ipod Nano. Only thing i dont like about it is the buttons arent laid out very well, but its like that to save space.0 -

That'd be because Sony are a trusted supplier of audio equipment, and Apple make strange PCs. ;-)

Which the Sony or Philips?
If the Sony, i live way too far away and the money saved from the price of the player would soon disappear with the price of petrol to get there.0
