And riding home tonight the rear started bottoming out, yep there was a puncture.
Pumped it back up and continued for a bit but went flat again so stopped near a light and removed the rear wheel.
A tiny piece (no longer than 5 mm) of wire had penetrated the tyre and pierced the inner tube (Continental). Had hell of a time getting the bit of wire out of the tyre though!
Mind biggest problem was the temperature was freezing and trying to change the inner tube with no gloves on meant I soon lost the feeling in my hands.
I normally carry a spare inner tube and an emergency patch kit, plan being replace the inner on the first puncture and use the repair kit for any others.
When I get home I repair the punctured inner using some Rema patches and vulcanising solution bought off ebay. Then keep that spare for next time.
Current count is now four punctures in one year and four months of commuting by bicycle... (three with Continental Gatorskin tyres and this latest one with a Schwalbe Marathon Plus tyre)0 -
Hope it wasn't on your Alfine bike. Lining up those red and yellow circles is hard enough at the best of times. Thankfully I never had a puncture with the Nexus rear wheel. Glad to be rid of it.0
