Feeling so stressed out!!

When myself & H2B visited my dad last year during the early wedding planning stages he offered to make our cake, wedding food (cold buffet, he is a very experienced ex chef) & buy/rent his own suit. On future visits he only mentioned the cake, asking to see pictures of what I liked, etc. I am not close to my dad at all & didn't feel like I could say "what about the food/suit", so we asked for quotes from caterers & upon receiving high quotes I knew I would have to ask my dad if his offer still stood. I rang him up & he arranged for us to stay at his this weekend to discuss it further, so off we went to his house & he was asking how many guests, what food we want, etc, then he asked how much we wanted to spend on food?? I was annoyed but at the end of the day even him cooking our food is going to save us a huge chunk of money.
My mum rang me up this morning once I got home & asked what had been arranged (they have been divorced 20+ years) & when I told her she went mad!! Threatening to ring him & say how dare he not offer to pay as he never paid child support, its the least i'm owed, etc!!
I seriously feel like calling the whole thing off, unfortunately we made the mistake of paying everything off in full at the time of booking, if it was a case of just losing our deposit I would definitely have cancelled!!
Also we have purchased the suits & have given him his, he hasn't offered to pay for this as he had originally said, why do people say things if there not going to follow through??
