Do Halifax match other mortgage providers?

Hello all,

sorry for all my questions but trying to find out as much as possible.

Have been a customer with Halifax for over 20 years but their fixed rates suck for what i would like.

Are they likely to match Nationwides market leading 2.94% over 10 years or am i wasting my time?

Also do you get better deals by going in branch compared to online or will they be exactly the same?

There's no negotiation. Not how the mortgage market works.

You must bear in mind that lenders have different criteria. So it's not just a question of choosing the product you want. The lender has to want you as a customer as well. Business is a two way relationship.

Rates are set centrally. There is no reward for loyalty - in fact some companies will take advantage of that and will charge you more than they would for a new customer eg insurers, utilities.

Rate matching is a nice idea but not one that will gain any traction anytime soon.
