Hi :hello:
What do you tend to batch cook (for the freezer) for a reasonable cost? I tend to batch cook stuff as OH works shifts and we're involved in scouting which takes up a fair few evenings and we wouldn't have chance to cook otherwise!
We're a bit bored of the usual lasagne, spaghetti and chilli!
Thank you in advance :T

Fish pie is my principle deliberate thing to batch cook, I try to get good big pieces of fresh fish so cooking in a batch is the only way I can make it work especially as my DH doesn't eat it.

I cook in bulk then freeze leftovers for lunches at work. Some include:
Beef stew (no potatoes - use barley or soup mix)
Curry (either just the sauce or with meat and root veg)
Moussaka
Casserole
Pasta bake
Cottage pie
Pie or pie filling
Soup
Cooked meat to throw in a stir fryThat sounds like a classic case of premature extrapolation.

Hi
I do extra boiled veg and freeze in bags so I can just throw in the oven for bubble and squeak. You can make it healthy with fry spray or just use a little oil.

Brill thanks, some ideas I hadn't thought of. We certainly don't waste anything and we always make use of leftovers.0

These are the dinners I sometimes have HM and in my freezer. The secret to success is making very small, yet constant changes.:)0 -
I make big batches of bolognaise, chorizo and bean stew, curry, mashed potatoes and carrot and swede mash.
Freezing mash and swede and carrot makes chucking together a roast dinner so easyJanuary

I love old fashioned savoury mince (mince, onions, carrots, Oxo, tom puree, garlic, peas). I've got a SC of it going at the moment for tomorrow and for the freezer. It's great with any sort of potatoes and some extra veg or you can make it up into a cottage pie.0

We do:
chicken/beef/lamb curry
chili
sausage casserole
stew
soup
bolognese
lasagne sauce
savoury mince
also if we`ve cooked a big joint ,we slice the leftovers and freeze that in single portions with gravy-great for a midweek roast!0 -
