Help! "Burnt" with face mask

I got a new face mask as a xmas gift & just got round to trying it last night. Applied as per intructions on tube & removed with warm water/muslim cloth that it came with. I did not apply directly under eyes but I was left with a big patch of red on the right one.
I put some vaseline on it hoping it would be fine today but its not!. It actually feels quite hot & looks worse. Is there anything I can apply to help heal it? Hope I am not scarred for life!. It was a Sanctuary Spa Thermal Rose Clay Mask I used - does not list ingrediants on tube.

Have you got any aloe vera gel? That is very good for 'burns'.Who having known the diamond will concern himself with glass?

Hopefully your skin will settle down soon, but there's a list of ingredients on the Boots website, if it helps:

This bit made me smile0 -
It seems that you just can't win. I used bicarbonate of soda and water for a while as a gentle, cheap, ingredient-safe face scrub, when for some reason on the last occasion it 'burnt' my face. The red patches soon cleared after I applied aloe vera gel.Who having known the diamond will concern himself with glass?

OP, this is terrible
I feel so bad for you. I suggest you take photos of your face, and also holding the tube of product, and then complain to Sanctuary - if they ask for evidence, you can email them copies of your photos. I'd also advise that you do NOT throw the product / its' packaging away. You may be asked to send them in for testing?
Scary.
Would you be willing to post your experience as a product review on the Boots website, too? I'd hate for other ladies to be buying this product because of its excellent reviews, and have the same thing happen to them.
When I suffered from really bad sunburn on my face, I smothered the skin with a thick layer of Sudocrem, which cooled it down - think it's an antiseptic too?
Good luck x0 -

I agree with your sentiments but to be fair, this sounds like OP probably had an allergic reaction to one of the ingredients. Something that can happen to anyone at any time. Just because OP reacted the way they did, doesn't mean there is anything wrong with the product. I had a makeover at a specific counter the other day and ended up with a red raw face which was extremely hot to touch. It took 2 days to properly calm down. I had also bought a considerable amount of their products (this gradually came on over the course of the day and when I got home). I called though and they said they were happy for me to get a refund on anything I had an allergy to.
It is still worth sending an email to Sanctuary with pics to see if they suggest anything.0 -
I agree- a reaction can happen to anyone at any time. I used a product by Dr Hauschka whilst in an organic store, assumed it was safe because it was organic, because it was natural. But before I'd left the store my face was really warm and red in patches!
The worst reaction/burn like problem I've had on my skin is where I waxed my eye brows too much and ripped the skin as it was already overly dry after the first time....after the 5th...(*head in hands*) it was really too dry and just got damaged. The way I dealt with this was to put on either aloe vera or a calendula cream- I sampled some from Kiehl's which was great, made the biggest difference (couldn't afford the real deal because it was too expensive but there are other brands which sell calendula cream and I'm sure if you did a bit of hunting around that you could find an oil out there? I found the Aloe was a bit too sticky for me and being on my eye brow area just irritated me, it may be something that doesn't affect you but if it does, that could be something to try.0 -
If you have any it might be an idea to take some anti-histamines (allergy medications). It does sound like a reaction to the mask.0

Thanks for your replies!
I will get some Aloe Vera Gel tomorrow. I have just left my face 'naked' today. Its still very red, hot and sore when I yawn or laugh!. Bit worried - I start swimming lessons on wednesday!.
I have emailed The Sanctuary to let them know. Such a shame this has happened as I know the gift pack was quite expensive. I really rate they're products - obviously this one wasn't suited to my skin.:(0 -
assumed it was safe because it was organic, because it was natural.
Sadly a lot of people do this and they often market products as safe and good for you simply becuase it's "natural". But, if you think about it, loads of natural things are bad for you: snake venom, arsenic, tobacco etc etc.0
