This one is for react who I don't usually do much for but i registered with them. It's quite a generous payment for a fairly short shop and return later same day to return the item. I'd rather they paid me less and reimbursed the item cost but shop has been done as per the brief.
  • Yes it's a bit arkward isn't it. Could you buy some extras at the same time such as Christmas cards or a small item but still return a main item so at least you are supporting shop.

The charity concerned will be paying a fair bit of money to have a mystery shopping programme in place so although I understand it is awkward returning an item I would not worry about denying them a "sale"

Sassers, you'll need to edit out the client name in one of your posts as per thread title

I've been barred by ESA for the foreseeable future! :(

Oh well, I really enjoyed working for them too.

Never mind, there's always everyone else.
  • Why, what happened?

I got friendly with a chap who's a charity fundraiser. Unfortunately as I (sort of) knew him, I told him I'd return the next day to 'mystery shop' him.

It seems I didn't know him all too well and he grassed me up to his manager, his manager then told the charity who in turn told ESA.

ESA have now lost all trust in me since that incident despite having worked with them for a long time.

That's the only occasion where I've ever told someone who I'm shopping who I really am.

Learnt now to never trust or tell anyone that I'm a shopper apart from family or close friends. One silly mistake can clearly blacklist you against all jobs from a certain company.

It's unfortunate but it was a daft thing to do as you have said.

I guess ESA got an earful from the client as well which put them in a difficult position.

The email just said charity shop visit but I've just read the brief and I've to return my item.

Naughty of them to not make the return scenario clear when they offered the job.

Yes people do return stuff to charity shops, and the charity want to check hoe this is handled. It's down to the way charity shops use volunteers. Staff skills such as the understanding of procedures and the reasons for those procedures can be very hit and miss.

My ESA WebMS account has now been closed down without warning.

Really worried now as I had a lot of broadband jobs still in the Pending Validation stage and am now doubtful that these will be paid.

I even got offered, and accepted, a very last minute holiday enquiry job which was done very recently - and three weeks after the incident with the charity fundraiser! Why would they phone me up to offer me this job last minute (with an enticing fee) despite my account with them being in hiatus, then completely close my account down soon after completing this last minute job? I even told the person on the phone about the incident, which she knew about, and she still allocated it to me.

I feel as if I've been used just to get an urgent job done, and as soon as they were happy with the data, they shut down my account.

I'm sorry ESA, but if any of your team are reading this, you know I've worked with you for an awfully long time, and I completely hold my hands up to the fact I've made one stupid mistake which I completely regret.

To be shunned completely does upset me, and the fact it appears that I was used for that one urgent holiday enquiry despite my account being in disrepute upsets me even more.
  • I don't like that company Preecey. I hope you get the matter sorted out.
