With tax returns I received a letter to say 2015-16 by 31st January. Do you get charged interest on owed tax. Is it better to do return a sap?

You don't get charged less for doing your return in June rather than December, but you do get fines and interest for tax that is overdue.

I think it's better to do sooner rather than later, because later you may be struggling to remember those missing details.

Watch out if you do one of those horsey audio bank visits. The scenario wants you to ask for a savings account that pays a rubbish interest rate but the bank advisor will never offer that account to you.
So be prepared to look like a moron by insisting on having the account with the terrible interest rate.
I think I was tricked by the MS company. I obviously took the account that the advisor offered with the good interest rate but now have been told by the patronising MS woman that I should have insisted on having the other account that the advisor never even mentioned. Bit of a catch 22, don't think I'm going to get paid probably get binned too. Good job I didn't have to buy anything.

Hi all, does anyone know when Retail Active pay their shoppers?
Did quite a few increased fee jobs for them last month and have received nothing. Although they use the same software as ESA Retail, there is no 'Pay History' option under Settings so that I can keep track of jobs I've done and see what has and hasn't been paid. ESA is great with their list of 'OK for pay' statuses.

On a different note, signed up to PIP and React last month as well - and I have to say I'm really impressed with React. They're very helpful over the phone and have plenty of work available. Not a fan of Sassie in general, but I think I'll manage.
PIP on the other hand seem to operate on a similar basis to Grass Roots. You get an email with assignments in the area and you have to log on immediately before anyone else otherwise it's gone. Done one or two mobile phone visits for them and seem OK.

I know I owe tax but will I have to pay interest on it or is this only the case if you do not get return in on time. I do keep a spreadsheet

You only get charged interest if you are overdue. You don't get charged interest if you file and pay before 31st January whether you file now, or in January.

On mileage, I'm going on a day out this w/e and doing an assignment then. Is it legitimate to claim my entire round trip mileage for this- even though this means the day is technically a tax loss?

If so do people accept low-paying assignments at places they are going anyway so the travel costs can count against tax?
