A few pub jobs appeared last night, just picked up a shopping one which is handy- was going to go there anyway!
  • Not much still for me. I like the shopping ones. A pub one came up late last night but my mystery shopping food buddy wasn't available. It was one I wanted to try though which is a shame.

I like shopping ones where I get a bag of goodies and a small fee. :)

Hopefully there will be some soon.
  • Can anybody give me an update on:
    internationalservicecheck.com ?

I've found a few old posts about this company.

Is it still a decent company? Is it true that they pay in Paypal? Do they ask for a tax number and/or check you're self employed?

    Any information will be appreciated.

Yes they are a decent company.

    Yes they pay by PayPal.

They can ask for your NH number to check you can work in the UK.

Yes they send all the details to HMRC so if you are not declaring the income then you'll get caught, all the major companies send details to HMRC on who they engage.

    Thanks.

I know it's a silly question, but have you got a rough idea of how much money can be made? I mean, from this company only.

I'm very willing to become self employed if, all my sources added together, I can make a living out of it.

    Hi video shoppers

I'm fairly new to this side of things - I have the usual PV500 and BU13 kit. I bought it new a few months ago.

It's starting to give me some problems. I wonder if they are the kind that people on here sometimes mention re the BU13 - and was hoping someone could help me solve them.

    I think it's cable issues.

The sound has started cutting in and out randomly - even though mic connection is taped in place.

Also, sometimes the unit says "no signal" but a (hard) jiggle of the connection into the camera solves it after 1 or 10 hard wiggles (that I worry will mess up its angle). It's pretty random - it will do it straight after being fine - ie when there has been no chance for the cable to move.

It's all annoying me and is going to cause a failure sooner or later. I've been lucky so far that the sound cut outs have not been while talking to someone.

Any ideas or hints or places I can get non Lawmate/better cables much appreciated!

    Cheers
    Hi there,

I don't know if you know about a great little facebook group that's specifically for video shoppers. Apparently there's loads of advice in there about the cameras and all things technical. I can't do links to it but if you are on facebook and just search for Video Mystery Shoppers UK Forum it should show up for you. A friend of mine is in there and found the advice invaluable.

You need to register with HMRC if you earn any regular income and enter a self assessment. Making a living from it is neither here nor there. HMRC have a helpline and they can give you plenty of info.

On a separate note, just looked at the GFK IT recommendation jobs, are they having a laugh with the fee for what is required!
  • I know I need to register with HMRC within 3 months. Been MS'ing for about a month now. Not earned much but had a few free meals.

Anyway, I went to the first post and used the link but it didn't work. Does anyone have an up to date link? I found something on the HMRV website but it looked more like it was for proper businesses, setting up a new account, government gateway etc. Is that the right thing? I thought it was supposed to be easy :rotfl:

Any start off info would be appreciated.

That is what you want, trust me, that is easy.

I thought similar TBH. Given that its a chat with a sales rep, taking photos etc - seemed a faff to me. But I noticed that they shot off the board, so someones happy to pick them up.

There's one appeared on a retail park around here which all companies have trouble getting jobs done on - wait to see if the fee increases...
