Hsbc changing my personal loan

Can someone offer advice or if this has happened to someone else.

In 2007 I took out a personal loan with HSBC for £15000 over a seven year period.

I have recently paid this off but when I called to find out where my interest cash back was I was told I wasn't eligible as I repaid early.

There system shows that I have a loan period of 8 years @7.6%
But with overpayments have paid of in seven years

The loan I took out was 7 years at 4.6%

My credit report shows a change was made to my loan in 2011 that I was never aware of.

So I have paid a over a years worth of repayments more than I should have.

Have you still got your copy of the credit agreement with details of the amounts / interest rate / term?

Have your payments changed at any time?

    This.

Check your previous bank statements (hopefully you can go back that far on online banking, if not you can ask the bank to send you them, they may charge you though) about how much you've paid each month. If the amount changed, the bank should have records of who changed that.
Credit 'Score' - Don't buy the credit 'score' that Experian, Equifax and Noddle want to sell you. It's an arbitrary number that means nothing when it comes to applying for credit.

ALWAYS HAVE A DIRECT DEBIT SET UP FOR THE MINIMUM PAYMENT ON YOUR CREDIT CARDS, REGARDLESS OF WHETHER YOU PLAN TO LOGIN AND PAY EACH MONTH.
  • Payments have always been the same of £209 a month from start to end. Whoever I speak to there seem to keep giving me conflicting information, which is always backtracked on.

Put your concerns in writing along with a copy of your original loan agreement.

Ask them for a written response within 14 days.

No point in making loads of phone calls - do things properly.
