Finding a Mortgage Broker

Hello,
I wondered if anyone had any advice on finding a decent mortgage broker? I know that people often use the unbiased website, but to be honest I'm a little bit confused by it!
How do I know if a mortgage broker listed on this website is decent? Is it a case of booking an appointment to find out!?
My situation is a bit different to most (I think!) as all three credit agencies list my address differently (we live in a house converted into flats) and no one seems to want to help - we've been in contact with all of the credit agencies about this who told us to contact the council regarding the electoral roll, who then told us to contact Royal Mail. We're just being passed from pillar to post!
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Personally would call a few brokers up, explain your situation and take a view on their experience and whether you can work with them.
Getting all 3 credit reports should help them find the most suitable solution promptly.

Thank you for the advice, it's much appreciated.
I've seen L&C advertised a lot on the MSE website - should I avoid these and go somewhere local where I can see a broker face to face, or will telephone and email correspondence alone work just as well?0 -
L&C get mixed views on here, they are heavily supported on here as firstly they are fee free (works with the site ethos) and secondly they tend to "sponsor" various parts of the site.
Clearly they are a big organisation and therefore you could easily get the most experienced advisor, or the guy who started last week.
Suggest you call a few up, although does not need to be face to face unless you prefer to do business that way.I am a Mortgage Broker

I guess I should avoid L&C then! Am I more likely to get a better service if I pay a fee rather than going fee free? I've read lots of horror stories on here and I really don't want to end up in one of those situations!
I've recently started a new job, although I've been in full time employment for the past 6 years - should I consider waiting until I've been employed in my new role for a few months? Although I don't suppose it hurts to get advice from a broker at this stage!0 -

That does not necessarily follow although I do find I get a better service in John Lewis than I do in Poundland.I am a Mortgage Broker
