How does a bankrupt person get a telephone landline connected when they only have a cash account and can't pay by direct debit or cheque?

which account do you have? I have a co-op basic account which allows d/ds. To be honest, I just assumed they all did as in this day and age its very difficult to do any banking without this facility. Would you consider opening another account?BCSC Member 70:j

You SHOULD be able to pay cash at a Post Office or Pay Point. In my experience BT always send an invoice (bill), even for connection/installation, and have never insisted on direct debit payments. They MAY ask for a deposit, which should be refundable after a certain period.I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.
