Yes, you can even "see" the effect of a cloud passing over head as the lamp dims and brightens again.
What type of bulb would be best for this purpose? Presumably, CFL would be un-suitable. Perhaps, incandescent or halogen would provide a smoothing effect on rapid changes.I have osteoarthritis in my hands so I speak my messages into a microphone using Dragon. It would have to be a incandescent really I think - Halogen may work, but they tend to burn out quickly if they are rapidly switched on & off.
I just used a 15w "appliance bulb" - They're hard wearing and the one that is in now is over 2 years old.0
