Free Gym/Swim Pass and No Contract Membership

I have just come to the end of my free 7 day Gym/Swim Pass with Edinburgh Leisure and will be taking up the offer of a rolling monthly membership after paying my £18 joining fee. At the end of 8 weeks if you have visited the gym or pool 8 times you get your joining fee and first month's 'membership' fee back. For me that would total around £35. That will pay for me another couple of months. Why pay for expensive contracts which tie you in and drain your bank balance when you feel to drained to train?:j
