hi you lot,i was thinking lastnight, some of these competitions seems to be getting posted a month if not months in advance, the way i see it,is surely if we all enetered them straight away, isnt there a chance that our entrys are getting buried under lots and lots that are being enetered nearer the time?hence less chance of winning?am just wondering if its better posting competitions that are much nearer the date giving us a better chance of winning, does this make sense???

I don't know the answer, but I suppose people can always choose to bookmark and enter later if they feel that will give them a better chance.

I don't think most posters would want to bookmark comps they find and try to remember to post them near the end date - it's enough work to find and post them I should think without having to remember when to post! :D

It shouldn't make any difference when you enter. I don't actually know for sure how winners are chosen, but I'd guess that some kind of random number generator is used - which has an equal chance of choosing any number in the range.

Humm..I'm not sure, I often wonder how they pick them etc. They might just click through the list and pick a person as random or something so I wouldn't have thought it made a lot of difference when you enter, but who knows! For the holiday to south Africa I won I noticed I must have entered it on the actual closing date so I would have been towards the end of the 'list', but I guess it was just chance. Luck I had seen it before it had closed though!

yeh but say the computer doesnt pick the winners and it is hand picked if you get what i mean then surley they wont go back through pages and pages to find a winner theyd pick one within last few pages i cant see them all be computer generated and picked that way i dunno it was just a thought

When more comps used to be postal, some compers preferred to enter last minute to get their entry near the top of the postal bag. I don't think it makes much difference with online comps.

if you were at the top of the postbag and they emptied it onto the floor - like they used to do on Blue Peter you would then be at the bottom???!!!

Anyone work for a company / website that has organised comps and can enlighten us?
