  • I agree with olly, just wish my cousin had saved harder or I had less brothers, or my mum and his mum had been born as just two, nah only joking. I have not had to pay a penny to date, expect as I say about £200, but big nice thing all family has comunicated again with other members, and several olders ones have really had good chats, even talk of a family get together to celebrate chaps life. So as its cost nothing I think we have all gained also made alot aware they have not set their own houses in order.

    It is not a scam.
Yes it would be nice if you could get all of the money, but you would not get any if this company did not get involved.
Your other option is to go to a solicitor. They may have some success in trying to track down the relative, and they may also have had dealings with the geneologists before.
Lots of solicitors, if they cannot find the missing beneficiaries, and want to close the file will employ exactly these type of people to find missing beneficiaries.
  • WOW, thanks for all of the replys, the company is Ingram Garrett & Schofield. Is this the same company that savinglikemad is delaing with?

Looks like you guys are split (just like me lol)

My specific concerns are around getting sucked in i.e. once I sign and return the form they will

ask for an "admin fee" to relase fund or process unusal stuff??

or maybe being asked for Birth certicficate, passport or something like that as "Proof of who I am" and then falling foul of identity fraud

Or finding out that they then have a claim on future inheritence for example for my parents.

I may sign the form but add a note to say something like

"This form has been signed on the provision that Ingram Garrett & Schofield are only instructed to act in connection with this one claim REF ****, related to the person who has recently died in Norther Ireland. Also I expect Ingram Garrett & Schofield to provide me with full details of the person who has died and the Solicitor dealing with this estate within 30 day or this agreement will become void. If these terms are not acceptable please distroy this document."

I guess I should pay a solicitor to deal with this but that could be expensive and I guess if it is a scamm they are banking on me thinking that,

Are you parents both still alive? If so, then you would not benefit from this inheritance. They would.
