Help with Civil Enforcement Claim - Court Looming Unusual Circumstances

Hi All,
I'm in need of some much needed advice please.
I have a court date set for the 4th Of Feb with CE and I'm a bit illiterate when it comes to dealing with these things.
Rough circumstances are is that we parked in the Whitby CE owned car park in Aug 2013. Due to issues with the pay station, this was being manned by an COOP employee who was putting the registrations in for people. When it came to mine he had put in the wrong REG putting an F where an S should be. Due to being otherwise occupied I didn't check this and we got a fine a couple of weeks later. I have since obtained the said ticket as proof and tried to have some communication with CE. This has proved ill fated and now they are taking me to court. Out of principle I have kept to my guns and now I'm beginning to think that I'm screwed in doing so.
Any help or advice would be very much appreciated.
Cheers

It is probably worth your while writing to the court and asking them to stay your case pending the outcome of the test case of Civil Enforcement Limited v Curtis A93YM708.
CEL have lodged many claims against Co-Op staff and Co-Op have wheeled out some big legal guns for this case.
Also, have a read of this thread, which contains an example defence against DEAL (who are a supposed Debt Collector dealing in CEL tickets from the CO-Op, so while not exactly the same as your CEL claim, will be similar and may be adapted, although I suspect your defence is already in?

might help you get replies if you indicated if the court is your own local court, plus the area where the court actually is (without giving too much away)
would also help if you reply and give details of what forms (if any) you have filled in, plus any timeline on this once you received those papers
the NEWBIES sticky thread also has details on this , including a walkthrough by bargepole, plus searching the forum using the search box will bring up lots of similar court cases with the coop, CEL and Deal
lastly, check parking pranksters website as there are several blogs about the coop, CEL and DEAL , one recent one is about CEL issuing coop employees with tickets too
plus have you complained to the coop head office ?0 -
I would say that, given the poor reputation that CEL are building up for themselves, their last minute cancellations, dodgy footwork with DEAL, and their vendetta with Co-op, the judge is most likely to find for you, if they turn up that is.
Do not believe them if they telephone you and say the case is cancelled, turn up anyway. When you win make sure you claim your costs. You never know how far you can go until you go too far.0
