Thank you for your replies - I really appreciate it.

I have completed the application forms (just proof reading and cover letters to do) but i'm still unsure as to whether to apply for both posts. I'm going to read your replies again, go through the person specs of both again and then decide. 'll let you know what I do in case anyone is interested!

McKneff, if you read my previous post you would see that the reason I can take the part time role is because I can do my current job in part time hours hence with both positions, I would be working full time.

Thanks for everyone who took the time to reply.

I have applied for the more 'junior' full time role :)

I have done this many times, very often in my kind of fields there will be similar and closely related jobs up for grabs and I tend to apply for both, often with the same application content - and if possible I explicitly note that I'd like to be considered for both.

In fact, the only job I ever got through a normal application+interview route was one of two which I applied for at the same time, and I told them at interview I was open to either and I was given the full-time and more senior one, while someone else got the part-time and more junior one (they wanted part-time work specifically).

That said, I have had people apply for a Senior job, I've interviewed them and thought they were good but not experienced enough for the higher job and offered them the lower one.

I, too, know someone who optimistically applied for a too-senior role and was denied it but offered a more junior role which wasn't advertised (probably created especially).
