if you insist in having a gmail account/google toolbar installed.please do not give out anything that could ever compromise passwords/emal addresses or even addresses of your friends or family as google are the biggest bunch of spying B%&tards youll ever meet.G mail sounds great @ the time but read the t&c carefully and you'll see you're being raped and your info is valid with them no matter what you do till 2045!!!!!they place a cookie in your browser that doesnt disappear till then!!!!!!!!(cookie means they can read your pc basically without restriction unless they change the t&c)and browser accelerators dont really exist you can tweak a pc for better performance but please don't anyone download googles spying crapware tweak as its freely available elsewhere from loads of other groups, microsoft are !!!!!! leave their software alone!!!!you pc is probably fine theyll have spam on your screen all the way to say it isnt but itll be absolutely fine i bet!!!!

People need to be careful with this new google thing, because it seems to cache things it shouldn't.

Other forums I'm on have been having problems with people being logged in as someone else and being able to see things they shouldn't.

It's probably OK on most pages where you don't have to log in, but be careful on forums etc.

if you insist in having a gmail account/google toolbar installed.please do not give out anything that could ever compromise passwords/emal addresses or even addresses of your friends or family as google are the biggest bunch of spying B%&tards youll ever meet.

Here's what he's on about: GMail can afford to give you so much space (1GB plus 2MB extra a day!) because they direct targeted adverts at you (I don't use it myself so I don't know whether these come in pop-up or just banner ad form, nonetheless they will only appear whilst you're on GMail (as you don't need to install anything) and if you access it through MS Outlook you'll see no adverts at all.
What I mean by targeted is that they have software which scans through your email, personal/confidential or not, and picks keywords out of it in order to build up a profile of you.
The whole purpose of this is to direct better adverts at you, but it could be called spying if you're that way inclined (it's a matter of opinion - they've never done anything untoward, but admittedly they could (as could Hotmail or your ISP whom you receive email via, etc!)).
G mail sounds great @ the time but read the t&c carefully and you'll see you're being raped and your info is valid with them no matter what you do till 2045!!!!!they place a cookie in your browser that doesnt disappear till then!!!!!!!!(cookie means they can read your pc basically without restriction unless they change the t&c)

Cookies can be deleted very easily, if you're not sure howto do it just type "how to delete cookies" into Google (or your favourite search engine hehe) and you'll be able to find help no problem (regardless of whether you use FireFox, Internet Explorer, Opera, Safari, etc (sorry If I missed you out :P).
and browser accelerators dont really exist you can tweak a pc for better performance but please don't anyone download googles spying crapware tweak as its freely available elsewhere from loads of other groups

Google Accelerator is not a traditional browser accelerator (that works by downloading hyperlinks before you've clicked them, not loading pictures, etc). Instead it directs all your traffic via Google's webservers, which already have copies of many websites on their servers. Because it does this, you get a really fast connection between you and Google, instead of a potentially slow connection between you and the website's original source (because Google can afford much faster server's than most websites!!).
This also allows them to compress the data before they send it to you, particuraly raw text which loses a hell of alot of kb after a teeny bit of compression!
Basically, this free service is very akin to Onspeed's paid service (which does the same thing but also lets you configure the level of compression for graphics!).
,microsoft are !!!!!! leave their software alone!!!!

Well this starts off about Microsoft, I thought we were talking about Google...
you pc is probably fine theyll have spam on your screen all the way to say it isnt but itll be absolutely fine i bet!!!!

:S I think they're saying everything'll be OK but you'll get spam (popups?), but it'll be fine? Is this sarcasm? Never mind, kids these days...

    jeez, you people are paranoid!

gmail doesn't keep a list of your details or read your confidential emails or build a profile of you. it has a program that scans emails and picks out words that it contains that match advertisers. so if you're going to france, you'll find tiny text ads relating to france at the side of an email - it looks just like the small ads on the right of a google search.

gmail is still about the only email provider that doesn't ask for personal details on sign up!

i sigh at this point cos i know the paranoid androids amongst us think that all of their info is being sold on to b*n laden or aliens or something and you're all going to get tagged and probed.

google make money by selling ads. it's not difficult to work out!
