CSA just don't want me debt free!

Hi,
after being in debt to the CSA for the past 15 years, at it's highest the debt was around £15k, I paid and paid, lost my home, worked all day and night, kept up my current payments and added what I could for the arrears each week, and at last, in December 2014, I paid off the the finale £1000. It was such a weight of my mind I cannot begin to describe. Then last week, 14th Jan 2015, I received a call from a lady from the CSA. She said she was calling about my arrears. I said I had none. She said that there was £1500 owing from 2008. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. She explained that whilst reviewing my account the were payments showing up between August 2008 and December 2008, totaling £1500 that I hadn't actually made. This amount would now be added to my account and that I would have to pay by the end of the month. I am gobsmacked and utterly sick and tired of it. The reality is that to pay this off would take me at least another year. I have requested everything in writing but honestly don't know where to turn next. Any advice would be great but after dealing with these people for nearly twenty years I know, in the end, after everything, I will have to find this money.
Thanks guys.

When you say you have requested everything in writing, do you mean the current arrears they are stating or your entire file?
You can make a subject access request and they then have to send you copies of EVERYTHING in your file from the beginning of your case - including transcripts of phone calls. You should request this and can then go back over assessments to see if you agree with the arrears.0 -
I don't suppose thjey care if you are debt free or not . They just want you to pay what you owe in child support.
Get the paperwork and go through it and see if you agree with their figures or not.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

Is this added interest they are saying you owe, or just asking you to pay for missed monthly payments?Save 12k in 2014 challenge:#09 - £1,560/£7,5000

Interest isnt added to CM payments, it will potentially be payments the NRP has missed.0 -

Hi thanks for the replies, they are saying that they have looked over my account and have come across payments between Aug 08 and Dec 08, totaling £1500 that weren't ever actually made. I asked how on earth this could happen and she said "I don't know". I am waiting for the paper work which should show these payments. I know for a fact that I would not have paid £1500 in the space of 4 months but do not understand how now, after over 6 years they can say this happened. I have had break downs of my account a few times over the years and nothing as ever indicated this was the case. I keep everything they send me but it's so long ago and so confusing.0 -

It might be worth you contacting NACSA who can help you. They do charge a small fee but they can go through the paperwork and advise you.0 -
If you don't understand where this 'new' amount of arrears came from NACSA would be a good option to get it checked. Don't assume they are right, they may not be. A couple of years ago they informed my husband that he had arrears but he didn't believe he had and they couldn't provide a satisfactory explation. Our MP who was already helping us with a much larger sum of alleged arrears (which we also proved were not owed) escalated the complaint and insisted on a full breakdown of payments from the beginning of the case. Despite their insistence that their figures were correct the breakdown showed that there were no arrears, in fact my husband had overpaid and they sent him a refund.0
