In fact if OP's son doesn't enjoy or develop an aptitude for football, ballet would be another activity he could try.

Coach-under 14's south wales.
7 years of age is absolutely nothing. Forget the Messi's who get picked up at such young ages.
My advice is to take your son to your local club. There the badged coaches should bring your son on gently and concentrate on core skills. Winning has got nothing to do with it. And neither has ability. Everyone should get equal time.
Even at my age group (under 14's) every one gets equal time. We have a squad of 16 and everyone gets rested. We obviously know the core players but our approach is that everyone gets a fair go irrespective of how that impacts on results.
As coaches our primary aim is to equip the lads with a love of the game and best chance of playing for the local senior side.0 -

Yep, you're a caveman...broaden your mind a bit!Loads of lads do dance of all kinds these days, it came into its own a little with the advent of Strictly and films like Step Up, and then there was an explosion when Diversity won BGT.
How's the training coming along anyway?

Beautiful interpretation. Mind you, I love the song, and the original video is just heartbreaking.

I've never had any interest in football at all.
Luckily, the school I went to didn't play football so there was no pressure to conform.
I'm not keen on ballet either.0 -
I have 3 kids (2 girls & a boy) and all 3 play for local teams. U14/U11 & U7. When my son started in Yr1 I said to myself "were my girls as useless as this!?". Then I thought what the heck, he's having fun with his classmates, let him play ball. DH loves the game too so every given opportunity they were out kicking a ball. And my girls were with him too.
Now in Yr 2 and playing for U7 he has improved. They whole team has. And they are doing really well. They have structure. And I'm very proud to say that all 3 are in training academies now which will develop them more. They love it.
If he wants to play find him a team where the emphasis is on playing & enjoying. Believe me there are teams out there who are hell bent on winning and those are the managers who will not put the kid who really can't play, on the field which is beyond me. At that age they should be enjoying & taking part.
Try him, if he doesn't enjoy, find another sport. Good luck!0 -
About the only sport I was any good at at school was shooting.
I could do it lying down.0
