Punch bags

I've recently started PT and I've taken a liking to kicking the crap out of the punch bag lol. I'm looking for one that would be suitable for my garage but I haven't got a clue what ones are decent etc. The gloves too.

Any recommendations?

Only recommendation i can suggest is on personal experience.
Don't buy a cheap vinyl bag, spend the extra and buy a leather one.
The vinyl bags are to light so they move to much when you hit them and after a month of abuse they start to split and tear.
A decent leather bag will last longer and be worth the extra cost.

ive just kitted mine out. go on amazon/ebay etc and have a good look about. i have a bracket on the wall and a metal hold from the celing, but depending on your garage size etc i have also just brought this http://www.amazon.co.uk/York-Boxing-Folding-Adjustable-Punchbag/dp/B008826D7Q/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1421604773&sr=8-2&keywords=punchbag+stands - good punch bags are york or everlast in my experience and also do gloves. sportsdirect do loads on line. just a case of looking around :money:

Thanks for the recommendations. Any preference over freestanding to those that hang on a bracket?

Garage size - usual sort of, can fit a car in it aslong as you don't need to open the doors to get out lol, if that makes any difference to what would be best.

I bought a 40kg 5ft leather punch bag from Argos over 10 years ago and it's still in great condition.
Make sure you wrap your hands before you go to work on the bag though. I can't stress this enough. Gloves themselves offer little structural support to your hands and wrists.

I've never worked with a free standing one, but from what I've heard, the sand in the base can solidify, making it like concrete. So good luck moving it ever again. I'd be tempted to stick to water, hopefully it isn't too annoying hearing it slosh around though.

I have a Wave master Xxl. Not cheap, but it can take some punishment. However despite taking 100 KGS of sand or water, it does move about over a session. If you've got some space and a structurally sound beam, it would be better to get a hanging bag.
