I suspect being an IFA is at times a precarious business - then again, so a surgeon would say the same, and an electrician, the butcher .... Public forums such as this often give the client side view which will be subjective at least. It is actually in the best interests of both parties for a constructive win/win…

Dunno about that. I think once people get themselves clued up even a little but they will tend to eschew advice and go DIY. What's critical is that they understand asset allocation first, and you see a right lot of "how's my portfolio?" questions here were people clearly haven't done this.

I am not a financial adviser and neither do I play one on television. I might occasionally give bad advice but at least it's free.
