Antique hunting!
Options
My wife and I have spent 18 months scouring gumtree and eBay for older pieces or furniture for our victorian house. It can take however months to find things, as I've seen myself searching for a particular thing several times a day, week after week until I've not only found the thing but been the first person to call shotgun on it!
The reason for this is that we've found antique shops and used furniture stores to be really expensive! I recall the glasgow antiques centre being eye watering expensive with one trader selling £1.50 ikea wine glasses at £5 each
Do any of you guys know if good places to go? Or clusters of good shops? We feel life we have been all over Scotland but things are too expensive
I appreciate traders have to make a living but the reclaimation yards can be a bit of a joke with a run of the mill door knob for £20!

Have you tried auctions? You can see sold prices for Victorian furniture at recent local (McTears) auction here.0

There is a good little auction in Bo'ness and furniture and pictures go quite cheap.0

Sounds mad but try the Salvation Army warehouse in the west end. They do house clearances and sometimes have some real gems :j
I'd also second McTears & Great Western Auctions.0 -
