credit rating.

Hi friends, this is my first post on here, i am looking for some advice on how to repair my credit history. Lately i remortgaged and paid off my debts, most of them i negoiated a settlement figure with, however, i am trying to get a credit card, just really to repair and rebuild my credit history, but am unable to do so. I have tried just about everyone, and looked at my credit history, yes it does state on there my ' partial settlements ' but never the less they were all agreed. Not sure what to do next, must admit the credit history stuff is not the easiest to read ! Any suggestions would be great !

thanks, ambi

I know a lot of people on here will advise against looking at companies like Vanquis and Aqua cards - however, if you havent tried for one of those it could be an idea. However, this is on the strict understanding that any purchases made should be paid in full when you get the bill as the interest is really high. Also, lots of applications etc will damage your credit score and might be worth not applying until your previous applications have dropped off your reports (12 months). Aside from that, apart from waiting the required time for the defaults etc to fall off, there isnt a lot you can do in all honesty.

HI have a look at Martins article on credit ratings on the site it gives you really useful information, the other thing is to make sure you don't attempt too many applications as some companies don't like that.

We have moved house a couple of times in the last 2 years, changed jobs and bank so have a bad credit score. Not making any applications for any credit for a while to reduce amount shown on history.

    Hi

Partial payment will not be helping you. You needed to negoitiate Full and final settlement. That would improve your score.

You need to get advice from CCCs, payplan or CAB as I understand that with partial settlement allow the creditors to come back for more or to sell the debt on to a DCA who want more.
If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing

Thanks , as i remember, it was classed as a final settlement and accounts closed, and they would not come back to me in the future.
