How long before you got your first win?

Hi all,

I was just wondering how long it took you to get your first win? I've been doing it solidly since before Xmas. Including links off here, Facebook and Twitter. I've seen a lot of comping friends winning and I'm starting to lose hope and motivation

I'm wondering if it's because I've got a nickname on Facebook but I can't change it so I've put my real name in brackets next to it.

By "since before Xmas" do you mean you've been doing it for about a month now? If so I'm afraid it's not that surprising you haven't won yet. I regularly go over a month between wins. I doubt very much it's got anything to do with Facebook nicknames. It's a matter of statistics, ie entering as many as you can to up your odds of winning something, plus sheer luck. If you are frustrated at not winning already though, then comping is possibly not for you as the element of luck means nothing is guaranteed, and there are also huge numbers of entrants these days. Most people are not winning every day, or even every week I'm afraid.

And to answer the question, it took maybe 6 weeks before I got my first win and that was just a pair of gloves worth about £3 as an instant win runner up prize. After a couple of months of comping I won my first 'real' prize.

Took me about three months to get my first win.. Had 6 wins in my first year in which I've entered thousands upon thousands of comps.
Not had a win since September either but still love to plug away at it ��

I started in June 2013, 1st win was oct 21st 2013, in my mind it is a numbers game, more I enter, the more chance i have of winning also it takes time for wins to happen, as some comps dont finish for a month or so after you enter them,

You started in December which is probably the busiest time for comping so more people are entering. Also bear in mind that some of the comps you've entered might not have finished yet or announced the winners.

I think it took me about a month to get my first win but I started in April.

It was about 6 weeks before I won.

How many are you entering daily? The more you enter the more chances really. Also, if you only enter big expensive comp prizes, there's more entries. I get several wins a month, most are smaller but things I actually want. I do enter big prize comps, but in all the years I have been entering competitions I have only ever won one big prize.

Forever. It literally felt like for ever. I think it was at least 3 months in reality. I find the more I let go of the process and simply enjoy, the more the prizes randomly show up. Oh maybe it's random after all. Maybe it was a year.

Anyway welcome to the board. It's addictive. It's a pain. It brings so much joy. We win stuff. We have loser groups. And everything!

I'm new, only been going for 6 weeks, but got my first win this week. 4 baby pouches for the little one! I'm sure it takes a long while for any serious wins. Keeping fingers crossed for everyone.
