before colouring your hair? Have you ever asked for one?

I was recently discussing this with my hairdresser. She said she does get some people come in for a patch 24 hours (or more) before their appointments, and she is always happy to do this. Most, like me, wouldn't have the time to do this at all!0

Yes, I always have them. It's important IMO. I'd rather not risk it, and as my salon is local it's a quick 10 second detour.
(For reference, they get a bit of the product they use and dot it behind your ear with a cotton bud. It takes no time at all)0 -
Mine do always.New to this money saving lark. Any tips greatly received.

Personally never had my hair coloured, but yes, my hairdresser always does tests on new customers or existing customers who want to use a different product.
I've seen women sigh and huff because they wanted their hair done that day, and I've heard them lying about whether or not they already have colour on their hair.
My hairdresser is very responsible about it. I thought there had been enough publicity that everyone would know about it and plan ahead for that special party etc., but apparently not.0 -
Considering the potential outcome of an allergic reaction if ou don't test I am shocked that so many people don't get tested! And even worse, that the hairdresser doesn't insist!
I dye my hair at home and patch test every time, even though I use the same dye. This is what is advised.
I know of a girl who took a horrendous reaction and years later is still suffering as a result. You wouldn't wish it on your worse enemy. She's incredibly lucky to be alive. (she was patch tested but the hairdresser used the wrong dye if I remember correctly.)0 -

It leaves a few black dots and then you wash it off 48 hours later and when you go for the appointment, it is checked to ensure no reaction.
I've had the same done. Not every time admittedly.0 -
Mine insisted on doing one the first time I went to her, about three years ago.
She is good and well priced, so I've stayed with her and haven't needed one since.
No other hairdresser even asked if I wanted a test.0
