Bank Switching for NI Customers

Hello,

I tried this on the main forum but was advised to try it out over here. Has anyone availed of the banking switch rewards of £125 offered by First Direct which also offers an interest free overdraft of £250 or the £150 offered by YB/CB. Are these offers open to NI customers and if so is there anything else to be aware of?

  • I done the halifax one a few months ago. £100 paid into my account about 3 days after the switch and you don't have to deposit any money in the account to get it

Another thumbs up for Halifax, I did this back in 2013 with no issues at all. I now feel it's time to avail of another offer so I'm watching this thread with interest.

I did the First Direct switch a few years ago and had no issues. Never used the customer service so that wasn't a big plus to stay or go, now with the Halifax and happy with the fiver a month.

Hi, I switched to First Direct from Northern (Danske) just before Christmas with no issues at all, I applied through a link on this site as the cashback was £125 as opposed to £100 through First Direct as it was then. Direct Debits, Standing Orders, Wages all moved over on a given date and no glitches at all. My missus has since switched as well directly through the First Direct website.

The £125 was paid into my account as soon as my balance hit £1,000.

I also opened that 'Regular Saver' account (6% interest), but the maximum you can pay in is £300 a month. You need to apply for this account online and make an opening deposit from your First Direct current account, thereafter your same initial deposit amount will be deducted every month. If you want to increase or decrease this amount you have to give them a call - customer service is excellent.

The initial overdraft facility applied to your account is £500, of which the first £250 is fee free.

    There are no catches!

Best move I ever made, after 30-odd years with the Northern they didn't even ask me why I was leaving! Is it any wonder people leave... :lipsrseal

    Hope this helps

What if the switching accounts don't have any DD associated with it?
  • It used to be you had to have at least 2 Direct Debits to benefit from the £125, but they've scrubbed that, all you need to do now to qualify for the cashback is lodge £1,000 a month
