I never need to download pages any more - just drag it to the sidebar.
Ed_Lass, yes try it! (I think my computer's still downloading mse and perhaps the whole internet as it still seems busier than normal..... but don't let that put you off!) :rotfl:Torgwen.....................

what sidebar???
Have a look at the page I linked to above (Features 1) about the ways you can use scrapbook.
Be sure to click on Features 2 and 3 on the left to see all the ways you can use it.
It has a handy little notepad built in as well0 -
Just a warning if you think you've saved the pm's by saving the page with all the headings of the pm's - when you click on the individual pm it says "invalid private message" and doesn't take you to the pm. Also when I was trying it out I saved a few links which turned out to all be the main page so check before you delete your pm's or save them in another format too.Torgwen..........

I save them as they come in - as I said above, I highlight just the message text and nothing else and drag it into a folder in my scrapbook called pms.
There's a great feature - if you right-click a folder in your scrapbook, you can select 'open in combined view'. If you click that it shows everything in that folder on one single page - one after the other (though it looks a bit wierd at first while it loads them all).
Because I'm saving as I go, I can see all my messages (both inbox and outbox) on a single page in chronological order. I can quickly find text by using firefox's Find to move up and down the page or I can highlight text0 -
Question for sra
I've tried installing the scrapbook extension , but when I click on install it says "To protect your computer, Firefox prevented this site (amb.vis.ne.jp) from installing software on your computer" so what should I do?Same old same old since 20080 -

Normally I'd say just give it permission. But with recent security concerns you can instead...
right-click the Install on firefox link, select save link as...
When it's downloaded, go to where you've saved it and click the file. It should give you the normal install box0 -

Try getting it through firefox...
Open ff and go to File then Open File
or you can try right-clicking it and 'open with...firefox'
(maybe I did the 'always open with firefox' thing and that's why it works straight away with me - can't remember)0 -
Just did a few screenshots 'cause it's so useful for firefox users
Open scrapbook (Tools / Scrapbook)
then create a new folder in the sidebar called PMs
Go to the first PM you want to save, highlight just the text in the pm box
Drag the highlighted area to the PMs folder:
a vbulletin icon will appear:
Repeat with the next pm;
You've just saved two pms
clicking on the icon on the left will show you the saved pm:
You can also right-click the PMs folder and select 'open in combined view':
this will show you all the PM's in that folder one after the other:
I Have both sent and received pms in the same folder in chronological order so I can scroll down reading them as a conversation0 -
I seem to remember that when I replaced my computer a while back I transferred over my old emails by saving them to a .csv file, burnt it to disk and I somehow imported it into Outlook Express on my new computer. - Obviously can't remember how I did it now!
But I wondered if anyone on this thread could please advise whether this is a possible way of saving PMs and if so could they please remind me how to do it?! Many thanks.:EasterBun
