Bit of a fix or not depending on how you look at it.
At the moment I work permanent and just about get by,but save about £100 a month. The jobs ok,home every night etc, etc.take home £1660 a month
Thing is I've been offered a job in Toulouse in France making the new airbus earning £1200 a week, home most weekends,it's contract work but seems long term, should be able to put away £1600 a month of that, great for house saving but being away from home will be a bind, just wondered if there's anyone out there in the same boat,i.e working away from home etc.

Wow, what an amazing opportunity - if you can cope with being away, I would go for it! Do you know how long it's likely to be for?"I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250

Do you enjoy your current job. It's not always about the money but just think, take the new job & you'll be debt free in 3 months,as opposed to 48! Hi Wafoo
It sounds like a fantastic opportunity, if you can cope with being away from home.
Will you get support - decent accommodation and help with any paperwork, finding a doctor should the need arise, all that sort of thing. Can you speak French, and if not, will there be other English-speakers there to chat to and spend time with when you're not working?
Can you talk to your employer, or other people working on the job, and get some idea of how it will be.
Then go with your gut instinct.
My OH worked in France for a while and had a fantastic time. The accommodation was shocking but they protested and got moved somewhere better. There were only 3 English people working with him but he speaks French so didn't have a problem. One of the others was very lonely, missing his wife, and went back early.Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620 -
There's a few blokes from my old place of work over there, they apparantly give you a living allowance, work is meant to be a bit mundane, the contract is 18 months, but by the sounds of it it's extendable, checking the flights seems to be not to many from Toulouse to Bristol (my nearest airport ) at the weekend.
All the guys over there seem to be enjoying it and the area seems lovely,it's the Midi-pyrenees (is that right?).
The other half seems quite keen, looking at properties to buy and renovate for the holidays,I'm just going to miss the family I think,my daughter is 16,just finished GCSE's and going on to sixth form so the money will help if she goes on to Uni.Total debt 2003 £29658
