Supermarket delivery driving jobs

I was just talking to two delivery drivers, one from Sainsburys and the other from Tesco, they both said their job was better than the other.
Is the pay the same for Asda and morrison as well?
I think the sansuby driver said he was on £6.50 ph but there were better benefits than Tesco who pays their drivers a little more.
I think Waitrose drivers get even more per hour but there is more expected of them, but the benfits are very good. You get a larger discount off your shopping, but then I wouldnt shop in waitrose its far too expensive.
Do Lidle and Aldi do online shopping, are there any driving jobs there to compare with the others?

I worked as a delivery driver for Iceland many years ago, easy job but the pay wasn't great. However I believe they pay better than minimum wage, somewhere between £7.50-£8 an hour.Current MFD 1st July 2026
Target MFD 1st April 20230 -
Asda is the better pay out of all the supermarkets, but it may have changed. Be great to see a lit of what each one pays?HTB = Help to Bubble.0

I drive for Waitrose a few days a week. It's generally an easy job, I do admin as well as driving and run it when others are away. Basic pay does not sound great but with my Sunday supplement and bonus I'm on decent money for the job. The discount card is a massive bonus to me because I would shop there anyway and there are loads of other perks.0

Will any supermarkets pay the new living wage for driving jobs?
Is there a comparison of pay for all the driving super market jobs?0 -

As you say "new" living wage I assume you mean the thing the Tories have called the National Living Wage, which is just a new age band in the minimum wage. Everyone in every job who is over 25 must be paid this by law after April 2016.
As you appear to think they would have a choice in this, I can only assume you are confusing it with the original living wage as set out by the Living Wage Foundation, a non-governmental organisation with no powers. Any who wish to pay this will already be paying it. It has absolutely nothing to do with the "National Living Wage", which has merely stolen its name and appended it to a much lower figure.0 -
Ocado by far is the best paid home delivery job. I drove for Ocado for three years. They relocated and I then did six months for Sainsburys. I think the hourly rate was roughly £7.50 (18 mths ago) but different areas of the country will vary.
Ocado was way more. I think if you look on the Ocado site it lists the hourly wage. Before 6.00pm is lower than after 6.00pm and sunday is more. I think after 6.00pm its £11.
Beware though, the Ocado job was a world away from Sainsburys. Although the money was better they expect twice as much from you. Sainsburys you load your own van, Ocado it's done for you but I was up to seventy miles away from base at times, Sainsburys the furthest I was away was probably fifteen miles. Ocado have a very high turnover of drivers and you also have a camera in the van monitoring your every move.
I enjoyed both jobs but when you get twenty five drops in Birmingham with bad traffic, no parking and apartments your'e in for a stressful night. Sainsburys was a walk in the park, your not monitored and if the customer is okay with it you can do your last drop first if you want, do that at Ocado and you get a final written warning.
The best thing about Ocado was that once you finish you can go home and you get paid for the full eight hour shift. Sometimes I went home after four hours if I did'nt have a route or you could get a short route and only work six hours.
I'm pretty sure Iceland pay the most out of the actual supermarkets but I was told their drivers have to work in store as well. My local Waitrose in minimum wage, not sure about Tesco although other drivers told me it was more than Sainsburys. Ocado pay overtime (time and a half) Sainsburys is just the same rate which is quite poor really for overtime0 -
