Very Annoyed with 'Very'

Options
I bought something on a 12 month interest free basis last year from 'very' their website was advertising "nothing to pay for 12 months",

so I thought ok thats handy as I was also moving house at the time. So I went ahead and ordered what I had to order, then a month or so goes down the line , I get a call out the blue from "very" reminding me that my payments are late, I replied with " I thought it was interest free for 12 months and nothing to pay? they replied with " it is but the delivery is not part of the offer".There was no mention when I placed the order that I had to pay for delivery the following month. Had I known it would of been paid.

It was only £3 so I paid it over the phone. Logged on to Experian this evening and I am furious to see two late payment markers on my report has gone againts me over £3.All my accounts are up to date , my experian score for what it's worth is 995 (excellent) and the two late payment markers ruins it.

Over £3 bleeping quid , very has ruined my credit file. What can I do to get this removed.

Ring them up and discuss the circumstances.

Then politely request them to update your credit file.

This pops up when you select BNPL:

Delivery costs are not included in Buy Now Pay Later and will be included in your next monthly minimum payment amount. See all Buy Now Pay Later exclusions.

I can't remember seeing this when I ordered, must of missed it , they shouldn't advertise nothing to pay for 12 months then should they? I've just emailed both very and Experian explaining the issue, hopefully it will get sorted. I was going to apply for a BTL mortgage aswell this month but might have to put it back until this gets sorted.

You don't get if you don't ask. I've always found them really customer friendly so I think they will sort it for you.

It does say also on your statement about the payment been due
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

thanks for the replies . Well I rang 'very' customer services and they passed me on to their credit reference department.

They essentially told me they can't do anything because it's not there fault. Unless it's an error on their part they can't do anything.

I then went on to pay off what I owed on the account and then closed my account down.

I then sent experian an email about this and they said they will get in touch with them and see if they can get permission from them to change the entry. I'm not getting my hopes up on this.

oh well, lesson learnt, which is read the small print before committing to anything.

Abit annoyed now as this could cause problems with my BTL mortgage app.

it's been 5 years sinse i last missed a payment.:(

They do send you an email to tell you that your statement is available online. I guess you didn't look at your statements.

They probably did, but at the time I was in the process of moving homes. I just forgot about it. I'm annoyed at myself more then anything. I'm not buying anything on credit anymore..

i'm sure they could have amended it if they wanted.

it's only a late payment so in the grand scheme of things not major, hopefully experian has better luck.

You should definitely raise a formal complaint about this IMO. You should explain you were not made aware when taking this out and advise them you are not willing to accept the implications this has had on your credit file. Advise them your credit file must be rectified and ask for details to escalate it to a higher power if they cannot. Send this complaint via a traceable means, e.g. email, online form or recorded post. Don't call them over the phone you'll probably get fobbed off.
