Mortgage questions

I wonder if anyone can help me, my situation is a little complex...

I have a Yorkshire Bank mortgage with my Ex partner which he is applying to take me off at the moment. I haven't lived there for 18months so I think they are going to give him the mortgage in his own name now he has proved he can manage.
I am now in a position where I would love to buy with my new OH and we have a 6-8% deposit already.

- Do I need to wait until my name is off my old one before applying?
- Does anyone think Yorkshire would offer me a good rate as I was a paying party on the mortgage for 3years?
- Is there anywhere to go for free mortgage brokering that isn't a hard sell?

Thanks so much

Are there any free mortgage advice services?

As Yorkshire Bank doesn't accept business from intermediaries, you are likely to have to do that yourself, if that's the route you choose.

Thanks Kingstreet, do you know if I can apply before I come off my current mortgage if going else where or is it best to wait?

You can, on the basis you would state you will be off the existing one "on or before completion" of the new one.

However, if this doesn't happen quickly enough, it may cause you untold grief and wasted expense if the transfer of equity proves difficult.
