I wonder if something like this would be suitable.

Very pretty and celebratory iykwim and looks like a perfume dispenser so will hopefully be recognised as such by the lady in question

Lots of other styles to chose from in a very quick search

It is pretty, just keep in mind that it is quite tiny, only 5ml. OP might be after something a bit bigger, and it sounds like the recipient would not be capable of refilling a small one by herself.

    ...matching body lotion.

No use for body lotion when you're at that stage of life. Not compus mentus to know what it is, or how to use it. Unable to use it. Nobody that could put it on while explaining what it is/for. (Not really sure what it's for myself, except I'd imagine it'd make you all sticky after a bath).

Would a scented talcum powder or body lotion be more suitable?

No, they're bathed - and that's a struggle; we're grateful they "allow" themselves to be bathed to be honest.... it was a real struggle to get that first assisted bath milestone past.... we thought she'd never bath/shower ever again!!

It is pretty... you're right that it'd not be possible for them to fill it themselves.

I was just hoping for a big bottle of perfume to appear in plastic bottles :) Not expensive, just a nice pong that they could spray on themselves willy nilly and randomly - if and when remembered, or reminded.

It's tough trying to buy things for people who don't know up from down and have mental processing capability and limited in all other abilities.

Not sure its true there is no need for body lotion at that age Pastures. Dry skin skin seems a risk when ever, and I can think of a distinct advantage to body lotion over scent for a woman with quite advanced memory problems.

If she overloads on lotion and spends all day rubbing in to her arms or knees or what ever....she'll have soft, scented knees.

Of she applies perfume every few minutes people's eyes might water. On that note, consider an eau de toilette over perfume?

Without a functioning brain, and never having used lotion, she'd never spend all day rubbing it into her arms or knees/whatever....

To me, eau de toilette and perfume are the same thing - I just mean generic perfume, meaning "stuff that you spray behind your ears that smells nice".
