Mortgage with a Default?

Hi All
I am new here but been reading up on a few posts and washoping for some advice.
Just looking to buy a house, but I have a satisfied defaulton one of my old accounts from 4 years ago. Is this going to stop me fromgetting a mortgage or just make it very very difficult? I am wondering whetherI should give up now and save myself the disappointment.
Thanks!

It will have an impact to some degree or another but it should not prevent you from getting a mortgage. The devil is in the detail though as you could have high street lenders available or you may have to look at something a little above high street rates.
Its worth getting your credit report(s) in front of a broker.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it.
