Could anyone tell me if Widow's pension is affected by a private pension?
If someone had a private pension coming in, would Widow's Pension be reduced...
Thanks, I have searched the governments websites but could not find an answer...

What do you mean by widow's pension?
Maybe the reason you didn't find an answer is that there ain't no such thing.
If it happens to be a means-tested benefit that you're talking about rather than a pension, then of course it will be reduced by other income coming in.

Sorry, obviously got it wrong. I was told there was a 'Widows Pension'..it must be some sort of benefit. It seems it's called Bereavement Allowance now...
Just panicking I guess....Good Luck All

Widow's pension still exists for those who already received it before the changes came about in 2001(or 2002 I'm not sure).
It has now been replaced by Bereavement Allowance and Widowed Parent's Allowance.0 -
It's known as Widow's Benefit, not Widow's Pension.0

No it isn't. It's Widow's Pension.

Looks like the answer is No.
Widow's Pension is payable regardless of capital and is not affected by the widow working.
This is logical in that it is based on the widow's late husband's NI contributions to the state pension. The latter is not affected by other earnings either.
Of course there might be an effect on your tax liability.Trying to keep it simple...
