Hi there could somebody help me with something,my dad has a pension at work and i handed his expression of wish form and covering letter to the appropiate person a couple of weeks ago and was just told to wait to hear in a letter how long does a death lump sum take to pay out??

Would it be possible for you to provide more information - and sorry for the personal questions. I presume from your post he has passed away - is that right.
Is/was your dad still in service i.e. working, was he receiving his pension or did he have deferred benefits from a previous LGPS service. That all affects any death and survivor benefits.
As for payouts of death benefits - that may vary depending on the scheme administrator (i.e. which local authority pension fund). Some are more efficient than others.
