First Time Buyers - Nationwide?

Hi all new on here,

Me and my girlfriend are currently looking to buy a house £130K ish and are first time buyers with 13K Deposit

Currently both in full time employment and have combined earnings of around 36K and both have no debts or any balance on credit cards just have two Mobile contracts.

I see nationwide have the best offers on at the Momemt for their mortgages but do you think we would get accepted ? Or is it better to go with our banks ? ( natwest or Halifax

Many thanks

Looks like affordability would be okay on those numbers - have you used the calculators on their websites?

I have had a few mortgages over the years and never gone with my own bank - I think for mortgages it's best to go with the best rate. If you are struggling on affordability or have other issues maybe the idea of going with your own bank because they know you might come into it, but on what you have presented I don't think that would be the case.
  • Ok thank you yes I have been on calculators and looks like nationwide are the best so far but there are company's outthere but I have never heard of them lol.

Has anyone been accepted by nationwide for a first time mortgage on here?

    Thanks

Have you been saving with the Nationwide. As you'll receive more favourable treatment if you have, and they've limited funds available to advance.
  • No I have not got an account with them as I use natwest and Halifax to bank with :( do you still think we may be alright with nationwide?

    Thanks
  • In Oct 2013 we got our mortgage from Nationwide. Prior to that we had no dealings with Nationwide. We were FTB and our house value was 250K. We had a 10% deposit. Mortgage was a joint one through a broker.

No reason why not. All I'm saying is that Nationwide does give preference. As it's Save to Buy scheme is extremely popular with FTB's in particular.
