Seconh Hand Oil Boiler

I notice a lot of people are changing from oil to gas and are selling their boilers for good money on Gumtree. My boiler is over 20 years old and has broke down 3 times in as many weeks. Instead of nursing it and buying new parts I was thinking of installing a second hand one instead.
Has anyone done this or do you know any reputable sellers who sell them second hand?

Careful on gumtree as you can get burners that have been nicked from houses..... My SIL's was pinched when on Holiday.... didn't take the oil, just the burner from her outside boiler0

get a boiler installer who is replacing oil with gas ."Do not regret growing older, it's a privilege denied to many"0 -
If you intend staying in your house I would be inclined to buy the latest efficient new one. Price a new boiler & burner before thinking about a 2nd hand one0

No I have not done it, but that is a great idea. My boiler is 40 years old and broken down! I cannot afford a new one and if I could get an second hand one for £50, I might go for it.0 -
If you can source a Worcester Bosch boiler under 10 years old that has been regularly serviced you will be on to a good thing. Get the advice of an installer to make sure you get the right size and output for your property.
Found an example http://www.gumtree.com/p/plumbing-central-heating/worchester-bosch-70-90-oil-boiler/10931852970 -
Might be a thought to apply for a grant. The scheme for boilers over 15 years old is open until the end of march.
Will cost you more than a second hand one but probably worth it in the long run if you can afford it.
http://www.nidirect.gov.uk/sm/grant-to-replace-your-boiler
'The grant of up to £1,000 dependent on total gross income, is available to help with replacing an inefficient boiler with a more energy efficient condensing oil or gas boiler; switching from oil to gas; or switching to a wood pellet boiler.
The amount of grant payable will depend on total gross income. For those earning less than £20,000 the grant is £700 to replace the boiler but will rise to £1,000 if controls are also being installed.
For those earning over £20,000 but less than £40,000 the grant is £400 for the boiler but will rise to £500 if controls are installed'.0
