Can anyone tell me what the post office is like regarding morgages? I've been on money super market and they are very competitive.

I got my mortgage with the Post Office but it was 3 years ago so not sure what there like now. But the application process was good and they answered the phone quickly etc. Your actual mortgage though will be with the Bank of Ireland and they have been fine for me. The only annoying thing is they don't have an online facility for checking your mortgage, so you either have to wait for the yearly statement or phone up and ask for the balance

There was a thread set up on here recent specifically to offer support to applicants going through the awful process of getting a Post Office mortgage.

I found applying for a mortgage over the phone easy as pie and quick too.
It only took two conversations and neither took longer than 30 minutes. With the AIP they send you an application form and you post that off. In a week or two you get a decision. Very good service.Changing the world, one sarcastic comment at a time.0 -
I'm currently in the middle of an application with them. So far it's been painless from the mortgage point of view (the first house we had an offer accepted on turned out to need a new roof amongst other things - a nasty shock!). Some of their products now have the incentive of covering the standard valuation fee which saves a couple of hundred pounds - a nice little bonus after forking out over £400 for the last valuation!Slummy mummy!0
