yes, salary. thanks for the feedback.
You're welcome. I should also point out that if you have worked there less than 2 years they could sack you for no particular reason if they are inclined to do so. You may want to take this into account when deciding how to tackle the situation. As I said before, a chat with your union rep will help you understand your options.0 -
If OP is salaried then I would try to make a case around the fact that the employer failed to provide x number of hours that week but OP was available to work had he been rostered and therefore doesn't owe anything. As it was reasonable to assume that the working pattern for that week according to the rota provided by the manager was not abnormal or incorrect.
I agree with this, but pushing the argument too far may end up being more hassle than it is worth, especially as you agree in principle that you have worked less hours than you have been paid for (even though it wasn't your fault).
Manager doesn't sound like the best, and unless you have the 2 year protection, it may not be wise to paint a target on your back.
If not happy to have it deducted from holidays, could you offer an arrangement instead to work the hours that are owed back over the course of the next few weeks instead?0 -
Alternatively, you could phrase it that your days are not evenly spread every week (which they aren't as you say you work between 4 and 6 days a week) but average out over the longer term. Before Christmas your rota had one week of low days and it will later have a week or two with high days to average out. If your manager had just slipped the two days back into your rota would you have even noticed? But a banker, engaged at enormous expense,Had the whole of their cash in his care.
