The End of the Long and Winding Road

Good morning all,

After 12 long and agonising months we have this morning received our Automatic Discharge; there were times when I doubted that we’d ever see it, let alone an early discharge.

It’s now almost a year since my first post on this web site, in fact I never expected to use the site more than a couple of times; how wrong can you be? I very quickly realised the benefits of this site in terms of support, anecdotal advice and sharing the ups and downs of financial Armageddon with others in the same situation. When the initial Bankruptcy and Supporters Thread was posted by Mike St Helens on the DFW Board it felt as though there was a salient, a sanctuary where those facing the worst possible financial outcome could meet in relative safety.

I’ve learnt an awful lot over the last year; most of it stuff that I’d rather never had to, and had the most unconditional support when I needed it. I’ve tried to give others the benefit of our experiences, and the whole host of other information that you gather along the way, and would just like to say a huge thank you to each and every one of you that I’ve got to know over the last year. I’m not going to mention names because I’m bound to forget somebody with my memory being as bad as it is; you all know who you are and once again a big thanks.

I’ve always maintained that the Bankruptcy Board will have a lot less longer serving members than the DFW Board given that bankruptcy is usually a quicker process, than being able to repay debts over a longer period of time. That doesn’t mean it’ll be any the less effective as the number of bankruptcies continue to grow and people inevitably search for advice and support from sites like this. The amount of information on this Thread means that anybody determined enough can research almost any topic relating to bankruptcy and very quickly gather information on the relevant legislation and people’s individual experiences of it’s application in the real world.

I don’t know if Martin Lewis ever reads these threads but if he does then I’d like to thank him for creating an excellent web site that must have been a saviour to many a lost soul over the last few years. It’s certainly not the best site on the web for people experiencing the nightmare of bankruptcy but it was certainly the catalyst for the one that is. Thanks Martin.

I guess that’s enough waffling for one day.

Best regards

Richard

So glad for you Richard. :j

I for one would like to thank you for your quick replies and encouragement that you have given me over the last few months.

This site and the wonderful people on it have given me so much support in what has been for me at times, a very lonely and highly stressful situation, that I do not know what I would have done without you.

So congrats once again on your discharge.

    Onwards and upwards
