HSBC loan overpayment

I took out an HSBC loan a couple of years ago and remember them telling me that I could overpay if I wanted to, they also recently refunded some interest to me as per the other thread I have seen on here.

I have been busy the last year or so paying down what I owe on credit cards/overdrafts and am now almost in the position to start tackling my final debt the HSBC loan. As it stands I will not pay it off until August 2018, but I have worked out that if I continue paying out what I have been paying on credit cards, I should be able to pay off HSBC by Aug 2016.

How do I go about making the overpayments? On my online banking I can see the loan and it has an account number and sort code. Is it simply a case of making a payment or setting up a standard order to those account details? Do I have to check with HSBC every time I want to make an overpayment, or can I just make a payment off of the loan whenever I am able to?

I should probably ring them up and ask but thought I would check on here to see if anybody knew!

Thanks

Can't comment about HSBC but I'm with First Direct and in my payments sections of my online account there is a "pay" button next to the personal loan, I can click on it and enter in how much I'd like to pay.

To be sure though you're best off calling up and having a chat with HSBC :)
