First time buyer Dilemma

Hello All.
Myself and my wife are first time buyers with a combined income of £80K/Annum. We are looking for our first home upto a value of £250-£300K. We are pondering on whether to go with the government's help to buy scheme or go it solo with upto 10% deposit.
We are looking for some impartial advice from fellow bloggers.
What are your experiences or take on help to buy?

The first thing is to decide:
1. If you want a newly built property
2. If they are newly built properties under the Help to Buy Scheme in your area that interest you.
Otherwise the question is redundant.
(if you are talking about the H2B mortgage guarantee scheme - you can purchase as normal as you may or may not get a mortgage guaranteed under the scheme - it wont affect you as an individual either way)I am a Mortgage Broker
