As a matter of interest ISTL. As an SNP supporter would you accept FFA, or is full Independence your only choice?

One may ponder why the net migration to Scotland is relatively low.

Or Liverpool, or Newcastle or Hull etc.

But Net Migration in Scotland is improving

The rise in net migration from mid-2013 to mid-2014 is a result of more people coming to Scotland from the rest of the UK and overseas, and fewer people leaving Scotland to go to the rest of the UK and overseas.

So there was (and still will be to an extent) a brain drain to the South, however that trend appears to diminishing ;)

Being an SNP supporter has nothing to do with the desire for Independence.

There are SNP supporters pro and against Independence as there are supporters of other parties which are pro and against it.

As a resident of Scotland (and an SNP supporter), I respect the referendum result and have parked the Independence agenda, as have the SNP party as I believe they have repeatedly confirmed (not that the journalists or other politicians are respecting the statements)

Therefore FFA or Devo-Max, would be a fantastic compromise, to allow the people (from whatever parties) to provide the focus in developing and growing Scotland's economy and possibly would put Independence to bed forever.

Im afraid under Labour Holyrood rule (and the usual two parties in Westminster), Scotland didn't join any two of its cities together by motorway. Even Glasgow and Edinburgh's supposedly linking motorway, the M8, had a gap. There's no motorway even to Dundee from Edinburgh, never mind Aberdeen or Inverness.

As regards the underspend, heaven forbid Holyrood should try to live within its means.

Dundee has a population of 140,000, Inverness 72,000.

Why do these places need motorways going to them. This is just a fantasy of nationalism. How many people go from Edinburgh from Dundee that it requires a 6 lane road to get there?

The Hume Highway from Sydney to Canberra (our capital) is a single lane each way for a large chunk. That links cities of about 6,000,000 and 400,000 together. At a guess Canberra to Sydney is roughly the distance of Aberdeen to the Central Belt. (bored now, not looking it up).

I'm not sure of your point

    People freely make those choices

personally I would much prefer the 500,000 immigrants each year to go to scotland : sadly they choose not to.

I'm not sure that Scotland is helping the 'brain' drain by discouraging English/Welsh/NI young people from using Scottish Unis but that is a Scottish decision to make.

Now, I'm sure you realise there is a difference between migration and nett migration.

I can assure you that migrants are choosing to move to Scotland, although I have not found yet a regional breakdown of the figures
